HOW TO STACK BANGLES IN 2026: THE MOON+STAR GUIDE

HOW TO STACK BANGLES IN 2026: THE MOON+STAR GUIDE with black and green enamel bangles, gold-tone edges and celestial motifs
Jewellery Styling tips ★17. okt. 20267 min læsning

More bangles, more colour, more fun. If there is one jewellery rule we actually follow at Moon+Star, it is that your wrist does not need to match perfectly.

Bangle stacking is all about building a combination that feels like you. That might mean three colourful enamel bangles worn together, a Chinese cloisonné bangle mixed into a gold stack, or silver and gold on the same wrist because you couldn’t decide between them.

There is no perfect formula. But if you are staring at your jewellery collection wondering where to start, here is our guide to building a bangle stack.

HOW DO YOU STACK BANGLES?

Start with one bangle you really want to wear and build around it.

Choose colours, textures or metals that pick up details from your first bangle, then experiment with the order until the stack feels balanced. Three bangles is an easy everyday stack, while five or more creates a fuller maximalist look.

At Moon+Star, we are firmly on the side of mixing things up. Enamel with stainless steel, Chinese cloisonné beside something simple, gold with silver, pink next to green.

The point is not to make every bangle match. The point is to make them look good together.

1. START WITH YOUR MAIN BANGLE

Every good stack needs somewhere to start.

Pick the bangle you definitely want to wear that day and treat everything else as the supporting cast.

If your starting piece is colourful, look for another bangle that repeats one of its colours. If it is simpler, use it as the base for something louder.

For example, a blue enamel bangle could sit next to another blue piece, but it could also look just as good against pink, cream, green or silver.

This is where stacking becomes personal.

2. MIX COLOURS, DON’T JUST MATCH THEM

Your bangles do not need to be the same colour.

Actually, some of our favourite stacks aren’t.

Try:

  • pink + green
  • blue + cream
  • red + pink
  • aquamarine + silver
  • white + gold
  • blue + orange
  • mixed pastels

The easiest trick is to repeat one colour somewhere in the stack, then introduce something unexpected beside it.

If everything matches perfectly, try adding one bangle that doesn’t.

It usually makes the whole stack more interesting.

3. MIX DIFFERENT TYPES OF BANGLES

Colour isn’t the only thing you can play with.

Combining different finishes and styles gives a bangle stack more texture.

At Moon+Star, our collections include colourful enamel bangles, traditional Chinese cloisonné designs and stainless-steel pieces, which means a stack does not have to be made from one type of jewellery.

A detailed cloisonné bangle can become the statement piece between simpler bangles. A stainless-steel bangle can break up several colourful enamel designs. A plain metallic piece can make brighter colours stand out even more.

Think less about finding identical pieces and more about what each bangle adds to the wrist.

4. CAN YOU MIX GOLD AND SILVER BANGLES?

Yes.

The old rule that you need to choose either gold or silver can stay in the past.

Mixed-metal jewellery works particularly well in a stack because repeating both metals makes the combination feel intentional.

If you are unsure where to begin, try:

gold + colour + silver

Then repeat either the gold or silver elsewhere in your jewellery.

Your rings, earrings or necklace can help tie everything together.

5. HOW MANY BANGLES SHOULD YOU STACK?

There isn’t a correct number.

For an everyday bangle stack, three is an easy place to start.

For something fuller, try four or five.

And if your personal definition of “enough jewellery” is very different from everyone else’s, keep going.

Whatever makes your wrist happy

The width of the bangles matters too. Three chunkier pieces can have as much impact as five slimmer ones.

6. SHOULD YOUR BANGLE STACK MATCH YOUR OUTFIT?

It can. It doesn’t have to.

One option is to take one colour from your outfit and repeat it on your wrist.

Wearing blue? Add a blue bangle somewhere in your stack.

Wearing something neutral? That is basically permission to put every colour you own on your arm.

You can also do the opposite and use your jewellery as the colour in an otherwise simple outfit.

A white top, jeans and a ridiculous amount of colourful jewellery is a perfectly valid outfit formula.

7. TRY ADDING A CHINESE CLOISONNÉ BANGLE

If your stack is starting to look a little too uniform, add something with more detail.

Chinese cloisonné bangles are decorated using an enamel technique with a long history in Chinese decorative arts. Their intricate patterns and colour make them particularly good statement pieces within a stack.

At Moon+Star, we love putting a more detailed cloisonné design between simpler colourful or metallic bangles.

It gives your eye somewhere to land without needing the rest of the stack to be complicated.

8. HOW TO STACK BANGLES IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT GOES TOGETHER

This is exactly why we created Stack & Save.

Instead of opening ten product tabs and trying to imagine what different bangles would look like together, Moon+Star’s Stack & Save experience lets you build your own bangle combination as you shop.

Add bangles to your virtual stack, experiment with different colours and combinations, swap pieces around and build a wrist that feels like yours.

The experience was inspired by the playful online shopping and dress-up games of the 2000s, because buying jewellery should be a little more fun than scrolling through another product grid.

And the more you stack, the more you save, with discounts available when building larger bangle combinations.

OUR FAVOURITE BANGLE STACK IDEAS

THE PASTEL STACK

Start soft.

Mix light pink, lilac, cream, mint or baby blue bangles together. They don’t need to be identical shades. Slightly different colours make the stack feel collected rather than bought as one matching set.

THE BLUE STACK

Aquamarine, baby blue, deep blue, silver and white.

Keeping everything within a loose blue colour family means you can mix much more pattern and texture without the wrist feeling too busy.

THE MAXIMALIST STACK

This one does not need a colour palette.

Pick your favourite bangle. Add another. Add something patterned. Add a contrasting colour. Add one more because apparently we have lost the ability to stop.

Very Moon+Star.

THE CLOISONNÉ STACK

Let one detailed Chinese cloisonné bangle be the centre of the stack and surround it with simpler enamel or metallic pieces.

The contrast makes the detailing stand out.

THE MIXED-METAL STACK

Gold and silver together, with one or two colourful bangles between them.

It is an easy way to start wearing mixed metals if an entirely gold-and-silver jewellery look feels like too much.

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON BANGLE STACKING MISTAKES?

The main one is overthinking it.

Your stack does not need to follow a colour wheel or a strict jewellery formula.

But there are a few things worth considering.

Making everything identical

Matching sets can look great, but adding one contrasting colour, texture or pattern often makes a stack feel more personal.

Ignoring comfort

A huge stack might look amazing in a photo and become slightly less amazing when you are trying to type three hours later. Adjust the number of bangles to what you are actually doing.

Forgetting about the rest of your jewellery

Your wrist does not exist in isolation. Rings, necklaces and earrings can repeat colours or metals from your stack and make an intentionally mismatched combination feel connected.

Thinking gold and silver can’t go together

They can. We promise.

BANGLE STACKING FAQ

What is a bangle stack?

A bangle stack is a combination of two or more bangles or bracelets worn together on the same wrist. Stacks can combine different colours, metals, widths, materials and designs.

How do you stack bangles for beginners?

Start with three bangles. Choose one statement piece, then add two bangles that complement either its colour, metal or pattern. Once you are comfortable with three, experiment with larger combinations.

How many bangles should you wear together?

There is no fixed number. Two or three creates a simpler everyday stack, while four, five or more creates a fuller maximalist look. Comfort and the width of each bangle matter more than the number itself.

Can you mix different coloured bangles?

Yes. Mixing colours is one of the easiest ways to make a bangle stack more interesting. You can stay within one colour family or combine contrasting colours such as pink and green, blue and orange, or red and pink.

Can you wear gold and silver bangles together?

Yes. Gold and silver jewellery can be worn together. Repeating both metals elsewhere in the stack or across your other jewellery can make a mixed-metal combination feel intentional.

Can you mix enamel and metal bangles?

Yes. Mixing enamel bangles with stainless-steel or other metallic bangles adds contrast and breaks up blocks of colour. Detailed pieces such as Chinese cloisonné bangles can also work as the statement piece within a mixed stack.

Where can I build my own bangle stack?

Moon+Star’s Stack & Save experience lets you experiment with different bangles and colour combinations while shopping, creating your own personalised bangle stack before adding it to your basket.

BUILD A STACK THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU

The best bangle stack isn’t necessarily the one where every colour matches.

It’s the one you would actually wear.

Start with your favourite. Add some colour. Mix your metals. Put something unexpected next to it.

And if you’re still staring at six bangles wondering whether they work together, put them in Stack & Save and find out.
